A message from the Chair

Dear prospective international students,

Thank you for your interests in our English-taught international programs.  Since August 2007, our department extended the warmest welcome to friends around the globe and started the international master's program. This year, I am delighted to see international experienced professionals from the industry and academia coming over seeking Ph.D. degrees.  It is our hope that our international programs will be playing a vital role, not only in STUT campus, but also in the regional cooperation throughout Asia and beyond.

According to the May 2007 issue of Evaluation , a bimonthly dedicated to evaluation and accreditation of the higher educations in Taiwan, our department (Mandarin taught programs) ranked the 4th in both “total number of papers” and “total number of citations” categories among electrical engineering programs of all Taiwanese private universities, in a survey based on the data from ISI web of Science from 2002 to 2006. Since 2000, we constantly ranked among the top EE departments of private universities in the number of research grants from the National Science Council of Taiwan.

In 2006, our Mandarin-taught undergraduate program was accredited by IEET, the Taiwanese counterpart of ABET, which is also a Signatory of the Washington Accord. Our Mandarin-taught graduate program is currently under the accreditation from the same institution.  We hope our international programs will be accredited in the near future.
